Accepting the Darkness

The general trend that I am noticing with the readings is that everyone wants to be all light. Clients love to forewarn me about how yucky or messy their space is.  It makes me laugh every time.   C’mon, we all have darkness in our space!  It’s part of the human experience.  Of course, we all have light in our space as well.   As different as the 2 energies feel, and although they benefit us in different ways, one is not better or more valuable than the other. Energy knows no judgment.  It just is.

Yet, as humans we have a tendency to categorize, conceptualize, or understand life in terms of “good” or “bad.”  So, as a collective, we have associated light with “good” and dark with “bad.”  However, think about how much insight you have gained from all your darker moments. What’s so “bad” about that?  A lot of honesty, growth, and self-actualization comes from the darker moments.  The darkness can serve and benefit us.  It can be our best friend.

It is not the darkness in it of itself that tends to bring people down, it is the judgment of the darkness.    I see judgment as lack of acceptance.  When we are not accepting, we are opposing.  We are not flowing with life.  It is this, the judgment, lack of acceptance, opposition to life that causes suffering or stagnates us.
When I am in the reading space, it is so clear to me that everything is beautiful and perfect exactly as it is.  Seriously beautiful!  Everything is working out for everyone’s highest good.  The trick is seeing one’s current life situation as beneficial.  When we look for all the ways the darkness is serving us, all the ways in which we asked for it to teach us exactly what we are learning right now, we are moving forward.  We are shifting the energy.  We are in acceptance and in alignment with our paths.
Noticing how beneficial to our personal growth our current story is can be so powerful when done in the dark.  Think about what a powerful sensation the darkness is.  Overwhelming at times, no?  What a strong force!  Why not have this strength and power work for you?  Why not partner up with it?

Acceptance of the darkness transforms it into light.  Inevitably, the light will transform back into dark, then you’ll transform it back into light again, and so on and so forth.  It just is, so might as well accept it so you can work with it, rather than against yourself.

**The gratitude  journal I mention in earlier posts always helps me accept.**
